Local MP visits Elecro ahead of Exported by Britain nomination

Local MP Stephen McPartland came to meet the team at Elecro and conduct a tour of the factory, ahead of the opportunity to nominate Elecro for the Exported by Britain Campaign. Celebrating the best of British manufacturing and export, MP’s are asked to nominate a top manufacturer in their constituency.

As a large manufacturer in the area we invited Mr McPartland to get a better understanding of our export achievements. All departments were involved in order to give the Elecro experience from start to finish.

The export side of the business has risen over 170% in the last 5 years, and now boasts 84% of the turnover. Our top five countries of export are UAE, France, Saudi Arabia, Russia and Qatar, with another 64 countries following closely behind. Having grown from a small family-run business to now occupying extensive premises, we have worked hard on fine-tuning our internal processes to create a lean workplace, utilising efficient manufacturing techniques enabling us to offer short lead times worldwide.

Mr McPartland said of the visit: "I was very impressed by the products, staff, ambition and enthusiasm of the team at Elecro. They are an incredibly innovative company and already export all over the world. Elecro are a fantastic example of a Great British company that is leading the world in their industry and I am proud their home is here in Stevenage."

What’s more, the product range is ever-expanding and we have some exciting products in the pipeline, which will further enhance the relationship with our global partners. So be sure to keep an eye out for upcoming innovations!

The scheme is a great way to share resources for exporting organisations in the UK, and to widen public awareness of the scale, variety and support for export from the UKTI, particularly in the manufacturing industry.
